I've just been looking at your great web site..
My name is Keith Hill and I've lived in Rushden all my life..
When I was 6 years old [ 1956 ] my father took me to 
Open Day at RAF Molesworth...
It started a lifelong interest in aviation..
One of the major influences in my life was RAF Chelveston,
Myself and friends would cycle there to get a glimpse of 
B47's and later RB66's..
One Saturday afternoon Neil Whitney and myself cycled over there
We propped our bikes up by the hedge and walked over 
to the main gate to talk to the "cop" on duty..
We were fascinated that he carried a real gun..
The guy's name was Neilson, I thought from Idaho..
To my amazement on the site I found the name Wayne Neilson, AP..
from Ohio.. Is this the cop we were talking to that day..
did I mistake Ohio for Idaho, I would really like  to find out...

Hi, can anyone help me find my birth father..
He was stationed at Chelveston 1961 to 1962..
when he was posted to France..
His name was Bob Brown, he frequented the Leather Bottle in Wellingborough..
[ formerly the Cambridge ]
where my mum Gill Lyman was a barmaid...
she has sisters Rita and Janet..
Rita married Henry Emanuel, who was also at the base..
Any information would be gratefully received...

II was an evacuee in Rushden in the 1940's..I lived on St Margaret's avenue
and went to the boot and shoe school..
I was friends with Jean and Joan Ellis and wondered if anyone knew where they are now..

The Thacker side, my great grandfather's name was Charles, born 10/11/1882..
in Lincolnshire, I know nothing of his parents...
My mother is Shirley Thacker married Jeff Bounds 1955..
came to America in 1956, I can't find any info on the family..

I lived in Rushden in the early 60's.. as the child of an Air Force family..
I became close friends with a family in Rushden, The Houghton's..
I believe Mr Houghton's first name was Frank..
They gave us a beautiful old grandfather clock, which I still have in my foyer..
I still have great memories of Rushden, playing in the pillboxes..
and all the anti tank barriers... Thanks Steve Cox..

Hello, I am a Veterans Service Officer in Oregon..
working on a claim for an Airman who served at Chelveston in WW11..
He was in a crash of two B17's in particular the Bonnie Girl #34..
There was a mid - air crash, co - pilot killed, pilot injured..
flown back to Kimbolton by the flight engineer..
while Cpl Rocha took care of the pilot..
The nose had been hit and the engineers could not believe they even made it back..
If there is anyone out there who could substantiate this history..
we would appreciate it, Thank you for the web site..
It has given Mr Rocha hope...

Whilst researching my grandfathers photo's, I came across some of him.. 
working at 928th EAG Hq at Colliers End Hertfordshire..
I have since corresponded with an ex- seviceman from the camp..
he sent me some caps with 928TH EAG HQ SCARWAF on them...
I searched for 'SCARWAF' and found this site and wondered if any of you knew 
of Colliers End camp, circa 1950 - '53..
I was intrigued by the fact there was recollection of an old English boiler man on your site and the affection your guys had for him.. and that he seemed to hang out at the fire hut. not unlike my grandfather.. who was the maintenance foreman at Colliers..
as the photo below shows...My contact Larry Tieri has helped me greatly..
but I wondered if there was any more help out there..

who was a Church of England vicar in Northamptonshire in the early 20th century... 
Standish James O'Grady was the Irish writer usually credited ...
with setting off the Irish Literary Revival of the 1890's and thereafter...
My information is that he lived with his son in Northamptonshire in his declining years..
I don't know the son's first name but have some suspicion it may have been Hubert.
 His father died in 1928 on the Isle of Wight

I am seeking details of the 5th Rushden Air Scouts...
that were in existence in the mid '40s...
I was a member of the bugle band.. 
the scout master was Oswald Lawrence..  from Raunds...
He was the musical director for many of the local Operatic societies..
and was director of Bignell shoe factory in Duck Street in Rushden...
The Scouts association has no record of this troop.. it seems to have disappeared...
We were originally some 30 members and I would not like to see us fade into history..
with nothing known about us....

 which was in operation during World War 2... 
I discovered a short while ago..
 that my biological father was an airman serving with the RAF in 1941...
Any information you are able to supply regarding the name of the base..

During WW2 my late step father worked for the 8th Army Air force as a civilian contractor..
His job was to scrap out the foundations for the main runways...
The places he was at were as follows...
Podington.. Kimbolton.. Alconbury.. Chelveston.. and Thurley...
He used to talk about the time at Chelveston when a group of airman were playing craps...
and there was a very large pile of money on the ground.. 
when the station commander came along.. the money very soon disappeared...
I myself was in the RAF for 9 years... and now I research military aircraft...
I have set myself a task.. to go through all the Amercan aircraft in the USAFE..
I was wondering... does anyone have a list of RB - 66's...
that were at Chelveston.. I do hope someone can help...
